SANDHILL CRANES

I had never heard of Sandhill Cranes until I moved to Florida.  I now love these birds. They are almost always seen in pairs and they have a distinct calling to them.  You can hear them fly in from a distance.  We "followed" the family of Sandhill's for almost a year.  There were 4 of them and we loved watching them grow up, then one day there was just one baby.  They would show up like clockwork morning and night for feeding.  Below are a couple of my favorite photos, some taken almost 10 years ago.

Antiquing in Arcadia

     We took a drive to downtown Arcadia after seeing a friends photos from here.  There is not much to downtown except shop after shop of Antiques.  It was heaven.  I love to go antiquing.  If you are looking for a certain antique I think  you will find it here.  

     My latest collection are the pink and green 1960's Christmas Ornaments.  I love everything about them, they are pink and sparkly, need I say more. I did manage to not purchase all of them maybe because they are not all pink. 

   
There is a shop there The Old Opera House.  We were disappointed the shop owner had to close shop early as he was not feeling well.  We only got about 10 minutes in there.  We will defiantly be planning a trip back just to go there.It is jammed pack with antiques!!  There is a room just for vinyl records, hundreds of them.  You can walk up to the stage where I found some of the original machinery for the Opera House.

Travel Bug Itching

      I love to travel.  I wish I did more of it. Lately my travel bug is itching to go traveling so I figure I would through my photos.  For the past few years we have been going to the area of Charleston, South Carolina.  If you have never been there, as a photographer it is a place you need to go to.  There is so much to photograph!!  When we go there is never enough time to do and photograph all that we/I want to do.  It also seems like every time we go it is rainy so not the best for site seeing and photography. We did manage to get in Rainbow Row and Magnolia Cemetery.
     Rainbow row is a MUST!!!  I think I could go there every time we visit and take photos down East Bay Street which is where Rainbow Row is located.  Rainbow Row is a section of the street where all the houses are painted different colors of the rainbow.  It is beautiful.  I have read the best time to go there is during sunrise or during the golden hour, sunset.  During the golden hours it is said that the light reflects off the buildings making them look even prettier than they are.  That is a goal for the next time we go.  There is so much besides Rainbow Row houses to photograph there is wrought iron fences, door knockers, painted shutters, cobblestone streets the list can go on and on.
      Magnolia Cemetery, well if you like cemeteries then you should stop there.  There is a section just for Confederate Soldiers.  Families have fenced in sections, there are very unique stones one is the shape of a cradle (really sad). The day we went was a rainy drizzly day so it made for good photos.  It is a huge cemetery so bring your walking shoes.

YOU CAN'T GO BACK, ONLY MOVE FOWARD

I had a very confusing mix up with emails and could not get into my blog.  I have been working on this periodically for months.  I finally, not sure how I figured it out,  but... I did.  So I can now get back to blogging!!!  I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused anyone!!  I want to back track so much but know that if I do that it will be so time consuming for me so I will just move on. Also that old saying goes..... You can't go back only forward!!  So that is what I will do.  Moving on!!
I have been working on several new things.  I have my 365 challenge, which is a photo a day for a year.  I get my prompts from http://captureyour365.com/ and try to keep with the daily prompts but if my daily life photo is more special to me that is the one I use.
I am also working on some creative photography, challenging myself to move beyond my comfort zone.
