I had never heard of Sandhill Cranes until I moved to Florida. I now love these birds. They are almost always seen in pairs and they have a distinct calling to them. You can hear them fly in from a distance. We "followed" the family of Sandhill's for almost a year. There were 4 of them and we loved watching them grow up, then one day there was just one baby. They would show up like clockwork morning and night for feeding. Below are a couple of my favorite photos, some taken almost 10 years ago.

| This is my favorite. He let me get really close to him. |

| The family (now just 3) getting some snacks. I love my cat peaking out at them from the lanai. |
